Our Mission Statement

The mission of Orr Family Ministries is to evangelize, equip, educate and encourage people by providing retreats, camps, and resources that will benefit the church of tomorrow by developing leaders today.

Our History

Our Genesis begins not in Eden but in the Valley; Peach Valley, Peach Valley Christian Youth Camp to be exact. Located not in a plush garden but between Gonzales and Shiner, Texas our story starts at camp for camp; this story relates back to the memories of summer camp because someone cared. That someone was Charles Goodnight. Charles was, and still is, a Counselor at Peach Valley Youth Camp which opened their cabin doors to providing camp services in 1963.

What came next was something Michael and Loretta Orr was born to do. In the year 2000, Charles Goodnight approached Michael Orr with an idea. This idea was to take some campers whom exhibited exceptional patterns and behaviors and place them into a class of their own. The sole purpose of this was to provide additional leadership training for young adults who had already showed signs of leadership quality in their church, school, home and personal life. Thus, The Leadership Camp was set in motion.

In the year 2000 a handful of 10 – 13 young adults were asked to join a special session class at Peace Valley Youth Camp named “Camp Emmaus”. This session, comprised of three additional classes per day, was held during regular camp hours for the group young children in the 8-12-year-old range. This lasted for three consecutive years through 2002.

At the end of camp season, in 2002, Charles Goodnight approached Michael and encouraged him and Loretta to go it on their own. Trusting in the Lord, praying and with a heart for the project, Michael and Loretta did just that; The Leadership Camp was autonomous. In the summer of 2003 The Leadership Camp saw 26 campers on the first maiden year.

Now with over 15 years of experience in providing leadership skills and training, many of our alumni young campers are young adults in college, business, ministry and other decision-making roles which effects our current and future culture.

Our Vision

Genesis 13:15

“for all the land which you see, I will give it to you and to your descendants forever.”
Over the next couple of years it is our pleasure to work in the behalf of all our campers, staff and volunteers to put together a plan so we may have a space to call our own. A place where we can provide you with a similar reprieve which God promised and provided to Abram. We are currently looking for a piece of land in which to acquire with this main purpose in mind to hold our camps and retreats. Please join our prayers in bringing this vision to us.
